Dear Gilmer Democrats:

What I describe below is, to me, one of the most impactful things we, as citizens, can do about the horrors taking place at our border.

Lights For Liberty is an organization comprised of people dedicated to human rights and the fundamental principle behind democracy that all human beings have a right to life, liberty and dignity.

This organization is partnering with international, national, regional, and local communities and organizations to sponsor Candlelight Vigils to End Human Concentration Camps on July 12.  The Vigils will bring thousands of people to locations worldwide as well as to concentration camps across country, into the streets and into their own front yards, to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees.

The closest Vigil to us in Gilmer County will be

March for Humanity: 2018 Atlanta

On April 9th, The King Center will lead the community in a March for Humanity which will serve as a global clarion call to the world of how Together we CAN win with Love for Humanity. The March, which begins at 12 (noon), will start in front of The Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and conclude in front of the Martin Luther King, Jr. statue in front of Georgia State Capitol. Following the March, there will be a Love for Humanity program and an “Inspirtainment” event to uplift and encourage the world to push the message of love and humanity forward.
