Pence and Roe vs. Wade

2018 JUL 10: Today, Mike Pence is escorting Judge Kavanaugh around the Senate, and likely celebrating the role he played in nominating a justice who would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Pence has been closely involved in the White House’s judicial nomination process. He played a key role in formulating Trump’s SCOTUS list and, like Trump, he repeatedly promised to back justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Pence has a deep hatred for Roe v. Wade and has repeatedly promised to back judges who would overturn it.

“I’d like to see Roe v. Wade overturned and consigned to the ash heap of history.” – Pence, 2016

“I want to live to see the day that we put the sanctity of life back at the center of American law and we send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history.” – Pence, 2016

“We must support the confirmation of Judge Alito and other jurists who will support a strict-constructionist view of the law and make it possible once and for all to end Roe v. Wade.” – Pence, 2006

Pence bragged he helped Trump make his SCOTUS list, which he trusted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“If we appoint strict constructionists to the Supreme Court as Donald Trump intends to do, I believe we’ll see Roe v. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history.” – Pence, 2016

“I absolutely trust the list. And as you know, Hugh, I served for ten years on the Judiciary Committee, and my running mate has asked me to counsel with him when those decisions come to the fore. And I’m honored to be asked to play that role.” – Pence, 2016

“I am absolutely confident that Donald Trump will appoint Supreme Court justices in the tradition of the late and great Justice Antonin Scalia.” – Pence, 2016
