GCDC Election 2018

Hello, Democratic Friend

GILMER COUNTY DEMOCRATS CAUCUS ON THURSDAY, JUNE 28, 6:00 PM, EL REY RESTAURANT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE NEW GILMER COUNTY DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE.

It’s time again to elect your representatives to the Gilmer County Democratic Committee.  Elections are held every two years in both presidential and mid-term election years.

This will be Gilmer County’s second election.  At our first election, half of the Committee members were selected for two-year terms, and half for four-years.  Attached is a list of candidates and carry-over members, along with a list of those whose terms are expiring (and one resignation).

For you who are not familiar with the procedure, the Democratic Party divides counties into Democratic Districts of approximately equal population.  Representatives from each District are elected to the Committee by the residents of the District s/he serves (and in which s/he resides).  “At-Large” members also are permitted in some counties, including Gilmer.  This system was designed to ensure that every Democrat has a representative to the Party structure.

TO VOTE, YOU MUST KNOW IN WHICH PRECINCT YOU RESIDE.

To find out your precinct number, follow these simple steps:

1.  Go to: https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/voterDetails.do

2.  Enter the information requested and click “enter.”

3.  The screen will show your voter information on the left, and your precinct number on the right at the top.

We can then look up your District at the election, or you can refer to the attached file, “Districts,” and find your precinct number below the District designation.

Your ballot will show only the candidates from your district.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Thursday evening.

BE THERE TO VOTE!
